Summer Hummingbird Days 2023 was a success! Todd Eskelin, wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), treated a crowd to our annual hummingbird banding event! Rufous hummingbird bandings took place while biologists and AWCC naturalists conducted talks about migratory research, climate change, and Alaska pollinators. Curious event-goers were able to help Todd release banded hummingbirds back into the wild under his supervision.
Our Director of Education concluded the event with a Facebook Live where fans from around the world joined the event virtually.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support this fun and educational event. We are so excited to continue this tradition in 2024!
