Free to all visitors, our educational programs are a fun and in-depth way for visitors to learn about our resident animals.
Programs happen daily and are hosted by AWCC Naturalist’s outside of the designated animal’s habitat. Upon your arrival, check the sign posted at the top of the ramp on the parking lot side of the Be Wild Gift Shop for specific times and locations.

Winter Schedule

Naturalist’s Selection 11:30AM – 12:30PM
AWCC Naturalists select one of our various animal species to discuss. Check the signage at the top of the ramp to the Be Wild Gift Store upon arrival.

Kobuk, Wolves, Reindeer*
11:15AM – 12:15PM
10 minute Naturalist Talk followed by a naturalist facilitated table of biofacts to explore and opportunity for questions and answers.
Location: Near the Animal Infirmary and Garden

Porcupine, Coyote, Red Fox* 12:30PM – 1:30PM
10 minute Naturalist Talk followed by a naturalist facilitated table of biofacts to explore and opportunity for questions and answers.
Location: Behind Be Wild Gift Shop, near Porcupines

Ungulates of Alaska* 2:00PM – 3:00PM
10 minute Naturalist Talk followed by a naturalist facilitated table of biofacts to explore and opportunity for questions and answers.
Location: In front of the Bunkhouse, in between moose and musk ox

Wandering with the Wood Bison
2:00PM – 4:00PM
A Naturalist facilitated wagon of biofacts to explore and opportunity for questions and answers.
Location: This travelling program walks the perimeter of the habitat following the location of the wood bison herd near The Point.

Black Bear & Brown Bear* 3:30PM – 4:30PM
10 minute Naturalist Talk followed by a naturalist facilitated table of biofacts to explore and opportunity for questions and answers.
Location: Bears Amphitheater

*The first 10 minutes of this program will feature a Naturalist Talk.
