Naturalist – Seasonal: Full time, Summer seasonal, paid @ $16-18/hour DOE. 15 to 22-week opportunities starting in Late May/June and ending in October/November. As a member of the education team the Seasonal Naturalist will support and lead educational and interpretive programs to reach the mission of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC). As a team member of a small not-for-profit the ideal candidate will show their ability to work with flexibility shifting between duties. Amongst team members all programs and tasks required to complete educational programming are assigned to work collaboratively, exact programs and tasks may vary over the duration on the position to adjusts for strengths and growths. As our programs primarily feature Alaskan wildlife, environment, history, and geography we are seeking an applicant with a background and knowledge in these areas, especially pertaining to the dynamic ecosystem of Portage Valley. Maintenance Tech: Full-time, year round. Under the direction of AWCC’s Facilities & Projects Manager, our maintenance position is one where responsibilities and duties can change daily. In addition to needing to complete regular assignments, multi-tasking and adapting to change are critical. Ideal candidates would arrive on time for scheduled shifts, happily greet and attend to customers, perform general maintenance of mechanical items, regular maintenance of buildings, vehicles, snow removal, road grading, assists with tidal variations, operates equipment in a safe manner, routine carpentry, painting, fence building, minor electrical, plumbing, and occasional custodial duties. This position is ideal for a driven and team-oriented individual that can manage keeping up with tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment working with many departments to meet specific needs. This position works in a variety of locations including restrooms, offices, behind the scenes staff areas, indoor and outside exhibits, retail space, company vehicles and more. Wage is $24/hour DOE, with free on-site, bunk style housing included during your first 6-months of employment. Additional benefits available for Full Time/Year-Round employees include health care premium paid in-full by the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center as well as 2-weeks paid time off plus 12 paid holidays. Seasonal Retail Clerk: Full-time, Seasonal: May 15 – October 30, 2025. The retail position is responsible for daily transactions for AWCC visitors in the gift shop. Retail duties include but are not limited to greeting visitors, entering customer purchases in POS, cash handling, daily cleaning, handling a high volume of guests, restocking merchandise, price tagging inventory, answering guest’s questions, and other tasks as assigned. Wage is $17 per hour with free on-site, bunk style housing included. Applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled.
