The AWCC is proud to partner with Adventure for Ava in helping Alaskan youth achieve their dreams!

Adventure for Ava is a nonprofit program focusing on Alaskan families with special needs/disabilities. They specialize in inclusivity and access to the outdoors by taking youth and their families on safe and accessible adventures. Each adventure is captured beautifully on film to share these incredible and inspiring stories with the world.

Last year we welcomed a very important guest to our sanctuary when we were honored to provide Zak with a private tour. Zak learned a lot about our resident animals and was extremely helpful to our animal care staff, assisting them in feeding several of our creatures. First up was KitKat the porcupine, followed by Kobuk our young male black bear. Zak had a hand in helping us discover that Kobuk is indeed a big fan of strawberries! Thank you so much, Zak.

In 2022 we were able to welcome another honored guest when E-Man came to visit the Conservation Center. E-Man absolutely loves animals, and it was a true pleasure to assist him living his dreams of getting up close and personal with our creatures here at the sanctuary. E-Man was quite taken with our young moose and helped to assist our animal care staff in the important task of bottle feeding these two. Thanks a million, E-Man!
