🗓 February & April 2026 — Military & First Responder Appreciation Days

Monthly Military Mondays
To honor U.S. military service members, AWCC is offering free admission for active duty, retired military personnel, and dependents on the first Monday of each month from October through April. Join us on March 2 and April 6 in 2026 for a special day out at the sanctuary.

We’re celebrating those who serve our communities with a special First Responder Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Bring your badge and enjoy complimentary admission as our way of saying thank you!

Bring your binoculars and curiosity for Summer Hummingbird Days, a beloved yearly event celebrating these tiny migratory marvels. In partnership with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, this day features live hummingbird banding demonstrations, informative talks on pollinators and local plants, family-friendly activities, and more! It’s a perfect blend of nature education and outdoor fun for all ages. Free with regular admission.

🐻 September 12, 2026 — Big Bears Big Veggies

Big Bears Big Veggies returns for fall! Join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at noon as our resident brown bears feast on gigantic veggies leftover from the Alaska State Fair. Watch the action, snap photos, and learn about bear diets, foraging behavior, and how veggies help our animals thrive. Free with regular admission.
