News & Updates for 2018

We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and are looking forward to the new year! 2017 has been exciting year for AWCC with new added experiences, finished projects, improvements for visitors and more.

Upon visiting you may notice some changes and updates to property; our new entrance road winds through the male wood bison in front of the property, there is a bathroom facility out at Bears and Bison Hall is complete and in use. We have been working hard to finish these large projects and bring the best experience to our visitors. We are not done yet and still continue to work on improvements and updates.

Our Walk on the Wild Side Tours are offered throughout the year. We are offering this amazing experience to our visitors due to popular demand and the high interest – it is the best way to experience wildlife up-close, to feed a porcupine and one other animal! Our Moose Encounters will be offered this summer, stay tuned for the date.

We continue to strive and reach the vast array of young minds in Alaska and beyond. Our Education department is devoted to sharing their knowledge of Alaska’s wildlife with field trips to AWCC and the Awesome Adaptation programs in the classroom. Check out our Education page for more information and for upcoming news stay tuned on our website and social media.

One of the changes effective immediately is our current day passes (with the orange) are no longer accepted after December 31st, 2017. New day passes have been created and will only be accepted in the new year. Car loads passes are not accepted and will not be honored if brought to the center.

We look forward to 2018 and all the exciting experiences, programs and projects it will bring!
