Meet the Wolverine

Wolverines are the largest terrestrial member of the Mustelid family which in Alaska include weasels, mink, martens, river otters, and sea otters. Like humans and bears, wolverines walk on the soles of their feet. They have curved, semi-retractile claws and can climb trees readily. They are well suited to travel through deep, soft snow. Due to their great endurance and strength, wolverines have a fierce reputation that has often been exaggerated. Contrary to stories they will not attack a larger predator, like a wolf or a bear, and avoid these animals as encounters may be fatal to the wolverine.← back to All Animals
