Our friends at MuskOx Flannels have been incredibly supportive of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) over the years, and we wanted to show our appreciation in the most adorable way possible! Since our partnership began in 2020, MuskOx Flannels has donated over $75,000 to our mission, helping us provide top-quality care for our animals and promote education, conservation, and research. Their continued generosity plays a vital role in our success as a non-profit 501(c)(3).
In recognition of their support, we thought it would be special to allow MuskOx Flannels to name one of the baby muskoxen born at AWCC this summer. Asym, our oldest muskox with a spunky personality, welcomed a calf that is already showing independence and courage, holding its own among the herd. Though the calf loves to roam and explore, Asym is always close by, ready to protect her little one.
To make this naming moment even more special, MuskOx Flannels hosted a voting poll on their social media, with us joining in as well. The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of name suggestions pouring in from our community. MuskOx Flannels narrowed it down to four names: Moxie, Maple, Betty, and Eleanor. After a final round of voting… drumroll please… Maple was the clear winner!
We are beyond grateful for MuskOx Flannels ongoing support and excited to see Maple continue to grow as part of our AWCC family. Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming process and helped celebrate this special moment! Don’t forget to check out the MuskOx Flannels website and stock up on some great gear. They donate $5 to AWCC for every flannel sold, so go show them some love.
