Today, on Giving Tuesday, we ask for your support in helping us continue our mission to protect and care for Alaska’s wildlife. At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC), our mission is to preserve Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research, and quality animal care. As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of donors like you to make this work possible.
We are reaching out to our supporters today to ask for your help in purchasing a large animal anesthesia machine—an essential piece of equipment that will make a world of difference for our larger residents.
Why do we need your help?
While our current anesthesia machine works well for smaller animals like porcupines and foxes, it’s not sufficient for the needs of our larger animals—such as bears, moose, muskox, and wood bison. These animals require specialized care, especially during routine health checkups, medical procedures, and in emergency situations. Right now, our ability to administer anesthesia to these animals is limited, which can delay or complicate treatment.
Whether it’s for a routine health exam, a treatment for an injury, or a response to an unexpected emergency, we need to be fully equipped to ensure the safety and well-being of these animals. A large animal anesthesia machine will allow us to:
- Safely sedate and monitor larger animals like bears and moose during medical procedures.
- Respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations where these animals need immediate care.
- Provide ongoing health checkups and treatments to ensure that our wildlife is thriving, not just surviving.
At AWCC, we are honored to care for some of Alaska’s wildlife. From the towering moose to the mighty muskox, our animals are an essential part of the Alaskan ecosystem, and they deserve the very best care we can provide. But we cannot do this important work alone.
Your donation will make a difference.
With your gift today, you can help us purchase this life-saving equipment and make sure our larger residents receive the high-quality care they need to live healthy, happy lives. Your support directly contributes to the welfare of these animals, and it’s a meaningful way to make a lasting impact on wildlife conservation here in Alaska.
