A letter from the founder of MuskOx Flannels:

Hey friends.

Brad here, founder of MuskOx. I’m super excited to celebrate Father’s Day with Dads around the world. Here at MuskOx we make flannels –and plenty of folks, like GearJunkie, say we make the best flannel on the planet. But what I really love about MuskOx is our commitment to long-term thinking. As a Dad and a business owner, I’m wired to support my daughter for life and create a brand that honors the muskox for many generations.

This long-term thinking comes up in everything that we do here at MuskOx. It’s true –we make quality flannels that last —but it’s not just about the product…it’s also about the process. We craft our flannels from cotton that’s part of the Better Cotton initiative, which delivers sustainable growth, we use recycled ocean-bound plastic for our buttons, and we make our flannels in conditions we’re proud of. And of course we give back to wildlife with every purchase we make.

Being able to partner with and support the AWCC is mission critical for us here at MuskOx. It’s easy to talk a good game and put out pretty marketing materials, but to truly do good for wildlife it takes a lot of hard work and commitment over months, years, and decades. The AWCC gets this & goes to work every day to support American wildlife. I couldn’t think of a more aligned partner for us and we’re thrilled to give back to wildlife with every flannel purchased through the AWCC. This isn’t a marketing gimmick, it’s the foundation of who we are as a company and frankly who we are as people.

So here’s to the long-term commitment and the effort that we all give every day.

To make a better flannel.

To be a better father.

To be a better partner.

To better support wildlife.

To better support the beautiful people all around you.

Here’s to the beautiful journey that doesn’t always look so beautiful every day when you’re putting in the work. But I know we’re all better supporting one another in the long-run.

Hopefully wearing a flannel made the right way.

Onward,

Brad

A testimony to MuskOx Flannels from one of our own:

This partnership isn’t just about donations — it’s about shared values, quality, and trust. Just ask Matt, our longtime Facilities & Maintenance Manager here at AWCC.

Last year, we featured Matt for Father’s Day, highlighting how he relies on MuskOx Flannels to stay comfortable and ready to handle anything during his hands-on work here at AWCC. We recently checked back in — and we’re happy to report: his flannel is still going strong. It’s withstood Alaska’s wildest conditions, just like the muskox and all other resilient animals we work hard to protect everyday.

“This is my favorite shirt—it’s the most comfortable one I own. It’s so warm, I can’t wear it as often as I’d like, which is why I’m glad I live and work in Alaska, where 50 degrees is basically a heatwave.”

-Matt Hertel, Facilities & Maintenance Manager
