We’d like to take a moment to update everyone on our February hours at AWCC. Due to the lack of winter-festivals and bookings, we have made the tough decision to remain at our current 4-day operations schedule through February. This will also help to mitigate costs during the pandemic. We plan to move to 7-day operations in March. This February we will be open from 10AM to 4PM on Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Guests will have one hour to enjoy the center if they come at the advertised closing time. Please note that our Hours are subject to change without notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

February is a great time to visit and there is plenty to see at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The AWCC is located in beautiful Portage Valley, surrounded by the breathtaking Chugach Mountain Range and Turnagain Arm Inlet. We offer over 200 acres of animal enclosures that guests can tour via our 1.5-mile loop to see our rescued Alaskan wildlife.

Can’t make it to AWCC in person? Join us for a virtual tour! You’ll be engaged by a walking tour of AWCC or a show and tell with one of our animal ambassadors. Your guide will share fun facts about Alaskan wildlife, and you’ll also have the chance to ask your naturalist questions in real time.  Virtual tours are great for birthdays, family reunions, and more. Learn more on our Tours & Programs page.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and we look forward to welcoming you and your guests Fridays through Mondays this winter. Thank you to all our visitors who support our mission to preserve Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research, and quality animal care.
