HBD AWCC! Celebrating 33 Years of Wildlife Conservation

May 23 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

It’s our birthday and you’re invited!

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center turns 33 on Saturday, May 23rd, and we are celebrating the only way we know how…wildly. Enjoy wildlife crafts and activities, meet a porcupine up close, join a black bear naturalist chat, and watch our resident animals receive special birthday enrichment. Come party with the wild side of Alaska!

Crafts, Activities, & Biofact Table – 11am-3pm in Bison Hall
Wildlife themed crafts and activities plus an assortment of biofacts to celebrate all the animals at AWCC. Stop in for a craft or learn more about Alaskan wildlife from one of our naturalists.

Porcupine Presentation – 12pm at Bison Hall Lawn (inside if inclement weather)
Join us to learn more about North American porcupines. We will have a presentation featuring one of AWCC’s resident porcupines while a naturalist shares more about their species and care at AWCC.

Kobuk Birthday Enrichment Naturalist Chat – 1:30pm at Kobuk’s Habitat
A party fit for a bear! A naturalist will give a talk about bears and quality animal care at AWCC while Kobuk the black bear has access to an assortment of birthday themed enrichment items in his habitat. After the talk, a naturalist will be in the area with biofacts and can answer any guest questions.

Wolverine Wonder – 2:30pm at the Carnivore Habitat
Join us to learn more about wolverines and their care here at AWCC. Observe our animal care staff doing a training session with the resident wolverine while a naturalist shares more about their species and quality animal care. After the training session, a naturalist will be in the area with biofacts and can answer any guest questions. We cannot guarantee that the wolverine will be visible. All animals at AWCC always have the choice to participate in a training session.
