2025 Belugas Count! Event at AWCC
NOAA Fisheries and partners invite the public to the 7th Annual Cook Inlet Belugas Count! event. Belugas Count! is an annual celebration that brings together members of the public to focus on the endangered Cook Inlet beluga whale, fostering local pride, awareness, and stewardship. The NOAA Fisheries-led event is a collaboration among government agencies, universities, non-profit organizations, tribes, industry, zoos and aquaria across the country, as well as individuals.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, members of the public are invited to join beluga experts from NOAA Fisheries and our partners at outdoor viewing stations throughout Cook Inlet.
AWCC Beluga Educational Activities at The Point and Bison Hall
Learn about Cook Inlet beluga whales from AWCC Naturalists. Activities explore diet, vocalization, identification, and adaptations to the cold waters they call home.
AWCC Beluga Monitoring at The Point: 10:00AM – 2:00PM
Join AWCC staff and Volunteers with AKBMP to spot the endangered cook Inlet Beluga whale and contribute to conservation efforts. Bring a pair of binoculars and help AWCC observers keep eyes on the water and record beluga whale and environmental observations. AWCC Tide: +27.10 @ 12:01PM
Beluga Activities in Bison Hall: 10AM – 4PM
Join AWCC staff to learn about the endangered cook inlet beluga whale while making Beluga hats, snacks, puppets, and other beluga themed activities. Fun for all ages!
