Dawn Gerety, a well-known Alaska artist, has been hard at work creating a stunning beluga-themed con-ex, generously donated by Matson. This isn’t her first masterpiece at AWCC—we also have one of her bear statues that welcome guests outside the Bear Bathrooms!

For the past couple of years, we’ve been shaping our vision of the Matson Ocean Education Center, and now that it’s coming to life, we can confidently say it’s turning out even better than we imagined. While still under construction, the building is already looking incredible as it sits along the shores of Turnagain Arm, surrounded by sweeping mountain views. Soon, we’ll be welcoming visitors and students to explore, learn, and connect with the Cook Inlet and the amazing animals and plants that call it home. Thank you Dawn Gerety and Matson for your incredibly kind help in making this dream come to life!
