Then our Retail Manager position might be just for you! The AWCC is hiring for a Retail Manager to oversee the operations of our Be Wild Gift Shop and online store. This full-time, year-round position will focus on all aspects of our retail operations. This will include leading a team of clerks, determining the best items to sell in our store that align with our mission, managing an annual budget, and monitoring profits and return on investment (ROI).

The Admissions Department is another important player in helping keep the AWCC properly funded. The Retail Manager will work closely with this department to cross-train staff to ensure Clerks can properly support both departments as-needed. Completing inventory will be another important aspect of this position. The Retail Manager will be expected to complete annual inventories as well as monthly spot counts. Have an eye for store layout and design? This role will also be responsible for the configuration of the Be Wild Gift Store to maximize profitability and aesthetics.

The Be Wild Gift Shop provides an extremely valuable source of revenue for the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Funds raised in both our online store and the gift shop at AWCC go towards providing happy homes for orphaned and injured wildlife. As the Retail Manager, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping to raise much-needed funds for a great cause. The more profitable our gift store becomes, the easier it will be for AWCC to say “yes” to taking in additional animals.
